A lot has been said over the Resveratrol supplements. People have said a lot of things like it is a very beneficial agent and can be used for a number of diseases. But does one really know what Resveratrol is. Resveratrol is basically a polyflavanoidal compound which has been quite effectively employed for the purpose of treating a number of heart diseases. Flavanoid are basically the glycosides which prevent the occurrence and help in the treatment of heart diseases. They are basically glucosidal in nature and contain a steroidal moiety along with a sugar attachment. The sugar attachment in the drug is basically for the transport of the steroidal moiety to the site of action or the site where the therapeutic effect of Resveratrol is desired. Further, the activity or the action shown by the drug is only because of the steroidal nucleus present in the drug and the sugar part does not have any sort of association with the therapeutic effect. Flavanoids are generally of two types. They are either bufadienolides or they are the cardienolide. Whatever type they may be, both of the forms are effectively employed for the treatment of heart diseases. They two structures differ only in the presence of a double bond on the steroidal nucleus of the latter. Resveratrol as a flavanoidal moiety has been quite effective for the treatment of a number of diseases related to the heart. It has been prescribed by doctors for the prevention of cardiac disorders in a lot of cases. Resveratrol can be, like any other glycosidal drug, being isolated from natural sources. Although there are a lot of sources from which this drug can be extracted from but the best source of this drug is red wine. Not only the quantity present in it is effective for the prophylaxis of heart disorders but also it can be used effectively for dissolving the extra fat stores in the body of an individual. Hence, to stay healthy and to be free from heart disorders, it is advised that you keep yourself on a healthy and regular dose of Resveratrol. |
